Careers in Construction Undergoing a Technological Transition

The construction industry is a vital part of the economy. It is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our daily lives. From roads and bridges to houses and commercial buildings, construction workers play a crucial role in creating and maintaining the built environment. Despite the importance of their work, many people still underestimate the value of education in the construction industry.

Many people still view trade work as less valuable than traditional "white-collar" professions, yet this couldn't be further from the truth. The construction industry is currently undergoing a major transformation, with new technologies emerging at a rapid pace and changing the way we build and manage construction projects. The technological advances in the field are driving the need for more education and training.

Technology Advancements Boost an Already Booming Industry

In recent years, there have been many advances in construction technology that have the potential to revolutionize the way we build.

A career within the construction industry has broadened itself to include so many fascinating components:

  • digital model-based processes that make each level of the construction process more efficient
  • the use of drones capturing aerial footage to improve site safety and track progress
  • staggering advancements in the Automation and Robotics fields

It's clear that technology is playing an increasingly important role in the construction industry. In order for workers to take advantage of these new technologies and stay competitive in the job market, they need to have the right education and training.
